Old Party Updated
-The party begins with Fenn, Carac,

Fenn the Brighthand, Heir to the County of Marcheheim
Race: Nordeskai
Class: Paladin
Sex: M
Level: 10
Age: 25
Alignment: Good
Motivation: Teleological faith
Attributes: PS 20, PP 16, PE 18, PB 17, IQ 14, MA 18, ME 19, SP 21
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 230
Hair: Golden blond
Eyes: Blue
Description: He has strong angular features, those who see him consider him very close to the Nordic ideal. Fenn is strongly built but graceful, has short hair, a resonant voice, and dresses richly but not garishly. His features also suggest a hint of Eldani somewhere in the past.
Disposition: Fenn is considered a good-natured and just man. He is driven by his faith in Vanya and the rightness of the Western Pantheon's ideals, which can make him seem fanatical and frightening to some and indeed he is totally willing to fight the heathen or those whom he considers evil. He is normally kind although he has a black temper when angered. His high caste is discernable from his strong will, natural leadership ability and magnanimity. In addition, Fenn considers his title-to-be a privilege he must earn, and is motivated to prove his ability through his crusading fervour.

Carac Landsknacht, Knight of the Troth
Race: Nordeskai / Westerendi
Class: Knight
Sex: M
Level: 10
Age: 23
Alignment: Law / Principle
Motivation: Acquire / maintain honor
Attributes: PS 22, PP 20, PE 14, PB 16, IQ 15, MA 13, ME 14, SP 19
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 205
Hair: Raven black
Eyes: Amber
Description: Lean and steely, Carac cuts a striking figure with his fair skin, very dark hair, gold tinted eyes and thin handsome face. He has semi-long hair and is almost always girt with armor and clad with weapons.
Disposition: He is generally a quiet and reserved fellow, though he has an unmistakeable air of authority nonetheless. Among friends he is more relaxed and has more to say. He is a well-meaning fellow though prone to introspection, sensitivity and rash decisions. He finds his emotions often interfering with his felt obligation to be chivalrous.
Notes: Carac is decended from Hinterlanders from northern Allon on his father's side, recently come to the Heldannic Empire. His mother is native.

Reyne the White, bride-to-be of Fenn and Lady of Silverholt
Race: Nordeskai
Class: Mage
Sex: F
Level: 12
Age: 25
Alignment: Good
Motivation: Dynastic

Height: 5'9"
Weight: 125
Hair: Platinum
Eyes: Icy blue
Description: A woman of astounding and rare beauty, she is tall and delicate with pale skin, long straight hair, piercing eyes, and red lips.
Disposition: She is a wise and far-sighted woman, and she has a calmness unusual among the fiery-spirited folk of her profession. Her actions are driven by a rationality not common to most people, doubly impressive considering she is a woman. She is genuinely good-hearted but not quixotic, paralleling her future husband, though less zealous.
Notes: She is from a noble clan of a Shire in Allon and took up with Fenn after he courted her upon their meeting three years previously.

novi revisions

Races

Novani - Men

Almareni: Akin to RW Latins.
Complexion: Pale to medium. All Caucasian hair and eye colors.
Stature: Men average 5'10", 165 lbs; women average 5'4", 125 lbs.
The great nations of Mormelar, Limellia, and the realms of Cerendas are majority Almareni.

Nordeskai: Akin to RW Teutons.
Complexion: Pale to medium. All Caucasian hair and eye colors, although fair hair and blue or grey eyes dominate.
Stature: Men average 6', 190 lbs; women average 5'6", 135 lbs.
The great nations of Allon, the Northern Kingdoms and the Heldannic Empire are majority Nordeskai.

Westerendi: Akin to RW Celts, though the Novi version has Elvish admixture.
Complexion: Pale to medium. All Caucasian hair and eye colors, although dark hair and blue or grey eyes dominate.
Stature: Men average 6', 190 lbs; women average 5'6", 135 lbs.
Most Westerendi live in the Western Empire, however there are groups of them in Allon (Hinterlanders) and Limellia (Velon).

There are also some other tribes akin to these three in Almaren, the most important of these is the Venethi (akin to RW Slavs) although these generally view themselves as apart from the High Culture of Almaren; their very being seems to revolt at conversion to the central Idea of the West.

History

The Elves, the oldest of the races, divide the history into Ages which Men generally accept. The First Age was the time of the Elves dominance and subsequent wars with the Immortal Thanatos who was finally driven into the Outer Void at great cost. This event signified the diminution of Elvish dominance. The Second Age saw the rise of Men, with the legendary Tyrans taking over most of the world. The Tyrans destroyed themselves in a civil war. The Third Age saw the rise of many successor Empires of Men (in Almaren this took the form of Milenia) and ended with the Elvish return to dominance during the Pentarchy. The Fourth Age saw the Pentarchy ended by the Free Alliance of Elves and Men, which resulted in the Milenian-imitator kingdom of Thyatis by Milenian survivors and the creation of a new Almareni High Culture farther West.

Notes

On magic: Magic is a transcendental thing because of the great power it confers upon its users. Very few souls who can use magic have the Arete necessary to achieve the cosmic transcendence which is truly potential in magic, however. Most magic users view it as a useful means to further their will-to-power. This is why mages will be found in the service of heads of State or overrepresented in the field of adventuring. Extremely powerful mages are often prevented from dabbling too greatly in the worldly affairs of men, however, by the existing balance of Gods and the not-well-understood forces of Paradox - it can be noted of course that few of the great mages actually desire to meddle with the Destiny of Mankind. The comparatively small number who do achieve the Beyond-Oracle status often become Gods. Great magery is not the only path to Godhood however.

eras ideas

Novite Eras I’ve Planned

1000s – High feudal culture and intrigue, population expansion, flourishing economy and arts. Consolidation of realms ensues. Starting 1050 the Ethengar invasions begin.

1100s – This era sees the rise of the Eastern Plague and the population is decimated.

1200s – The explosion of knowledge begins in Tyr, though population is lower than before Almaren’s standards of living again begin to rise. Fall of the Empire of Thyatis to the Empire of Great Hule. Thyatis’s legacy is claimed by the princes of Orekhovo, who use it as an excuse to found the Empire of Vos.

1300s – Creed Reformers challenge the Pantheon’s decrees and break off into rival sects which denounce the central Pantheonic order. A series of religious wars take place as several states reject Pantheon doctrine while other nations become fanatical in their devotion to the Pantheon. Mormelar embarks on a global policy of colonial empire with a more aggressive strategy than the conservative one held by the Western Empire.

1400s – Almaren still racked with religious wars. Novani, Omikhani and Eldani come together in a joint venture of enlightenment – there is a large boom in technology as a result. With the ascension of Alwin of Orielon to the throne of Allon, the country becomes beholden to the pernicious influence of the Ashbys and their Syndicate. Limellia and Allon begin to take part in colonial policies.

1500s – An era of greatly expanding knowledge but also the forces of the technocrats have now been let loose. The empires of Allon, Limellia, Vos and others compete on a global scale. Cartels of plutocrats have heavy influence in the Western countries. Allon wins sole possession of Annuvia after a war with Limellia. The Annuvians and Almareni settlers revolt and win their “independence.” Limellia collapses in anarchy after a bloody civil war and is replaced by the military dictatorship of Peregrine.

Novi Timeline and Alterations

Almareni – Aryan (Tyrai – Italic; Nordeskai – Germanic; Westerendi – Celtic; Vendikai – Slavic)

Almoran-Frigani – Finno-Ugric

Hulean – Turkic

Etengari/Khar Zin – Mongol

Jennite – Tungus

Khar – Chinese

Mintaki – Japanese

Mornikai – Korean

Sakari – Afro-Asiatic

Kehji-Kharlakan – Sino-Tibetan

Elves

-Grey elf ‘homelands’ are agreed in the north in Wendar. Cape and isle elves.

-Wood elf ‘homelands’ are agreed in the old kingdoms. Woodland elves.

Alts

-Sakar is not attached to Almir but is a small continent of its own (1.5 mil sq. mi.)

-Almaren + Almora + Zoria = 9.4 million sq. mi.

-Western Empire is three main isles (two in far west, one in the nw and one in the cw; one to the south of Almaren), 2 Almareni colonies, and several Zulian colonies.

-Turk-style kingdom of Harasmia exists thanks to the migrations of these folk from the east. Same is true for the Hulean Sultanate near Thyatis. Migrations of these folk did not wipe out the native Almoran steppe culture.

-Almaren’s Novani population is mostly Aryan. In the south and east there are exceptions.

-Kings of Aryan nations are racially identical to Dunedain thanks to their relatively recent infusions of Savi, Exali, and even Demigod blood, often times Dukes as well. Other nobility are equivalent to Lesser Dunedain.

-Tyrans had ores including steel. Today among the Novani only the Aryans and Mintakans know how to manufacture steel, laen, ithilnaur, adamantine, and eog (the last four are usually strictly kept among royal smithworks).

Timeline

-SA 1 calendar is begun when Tyrius and Torion, two Aryan aristocrats, organize the people of the Cainia river basin into the Commonwealth of Tyr. The city of Tyr is born this year.

-SA 500, first imperial Tyran campaigns to other lands.

-SA 1214, final destruction of Lethaan, the chief rival empire to Tyr, is achieved.

-SA 1452 sees the crowning of Severinus as Emperor of Tyr, the first official Emperor.

-SA 2458 strange reactionary Eldani conspiracy based on ideology of elves regaining world power topples the now corrupt and decadent and downbred Tyran Empire and founds the Pentarchy.

-SA 3510 sees the beginning of the War of the Magi, initiated by various Aryan tribes allied with elves, dwarves, and even some orcish tribes. The war lasts 14 grueling years and results in the utter destruction of the Pentarchy at the hands of the Free Alliance.

-TA 1 is founded when Free Alliance negotiates the Grand Western Treaty. This is in the wake of the Grand War of the Magi which signaled the final defeat of the Pentarchy tyranny which had ruled the West from SA 2400 to 3550. The kingdoms of Lancia and others are founded (these are precursors to the modern kingdoms but often with different names).

-TA 648 sees the coronation of Tescelin (b. 532), the Emperor of the West. He conquers most of western Almaren with the exception of the Allonian valley, the Sakari-held lands in the southwest and the southern part of the Tyran peninsula. He stops his expansion at the borderlands of the majority Vendik lands. He dies in TA 676, signifying a time of troubles ahead.

-TA 824 sees the division of the Empire of Tescelin.

-TA 1022 sees the election of Berenger I of Carnot, the first of the Carnot dynasty of Limellia.

-TA 1446: Present day. Kings: Ademar of Allon, Lothair of Limellia, Romelion of Veredune, Eligion of Orelin, Arnulfes of Adhelon, Conrades of Ilion, Erdinandes of Casparan, Sigeric of Graeschild, Lammert of Jannerau
